Jonathan and Andrea had planned an elegant, “old world” Europe, classy affair; with bridal party photos in a wine cellar, and a magnificent iron wrought winding marble stair! We began our day at Design One salon and spa in Grand Rapids, MI, where the hair dresser was a very talented friend, and the makeup artist was an inspiration to watch!
The guys got ready in the relaxed atmosphere of Jon and Andrea’s home, and took full advantage of the extra time!
But, they were all ready and waiting, and right where they should be, when it came time for Jonathan and Andrea’s first look.
A few last minute details at the hotel…
And we’re ready! The flowers were created by designer Laura Truer. They were stunning!
And on to the ceremony at LaGrave Avenue, Christian Reformed Church!
Dad gave Andrea away.
It was a lovely ceremony!
The reception was held at Noto’s Old World Dining, in the upstairs ballroom. Everything was gorgeous. The food was awesome! And Noto’s made the lovely cake as well!
Their rings were photographed on the family Bible, a longstanding tradition. It’s an heirloom, and in the authentic German translation!
Later in the evening we went down into the wine cellar to photograph the bridal party. I’d like to give a special shout-out to my friend Michael Croft, owner of We Lend Lenses in Grand Rapids. When I heard Andrea’s hopes for the day… wine cellar, winding staircases, AND a 16 person bridal party, I KNEW I would need a really wide lens. Since the 16-35L f2 is not in my kit yet, I rented one from We Lend Lenses. Check them out! They have tons of gear, and insurance is included!
Thank you, Jonathan and Andrea, for inviting me to capture your amazing wedding event! I know you’ll be happy together, and wish you many years of good wine, excellent beers, and fine dining. (Oh, and may you have a trip to Italy for an anniversary someday… that would just be amazing!) Love you!!!
