I love weddings in all seasons, I truly do, but there is a special place in my heart for winter weddings. Perhaps it’s because they’re just a bit more rare. They have an exclusive feel to them. They make me happy. Perhaps I find them metaphorical. The best love is “love in spite of all odds”; and adversity will always test character. Getting married in winter metaphorically says, “of course everything can’t be perfect…. but it can be achingly beautiful none-the-less”. (Unless you’re one of those winter brides who always dreamed of fat, puffy flakes, and pure, soft, white snow. Then, you might still be dreaming of perfections – aaaannd you might still get let down – we had no snow at all for this wedding!) It could also be the colors. Christmas time permits all sorts of vivid, luscious, rich color trappings. We hang things from ceilings, we up-light our walls, there’s glitter on almost everything… you name it. Color is everywhere.
Bekah and Jay’s wedding is just that – an earthy, friendly affair decorated with rich, vibrant color (and shiny things)!
